General 6 — Tiyumba

Kaya [Traditions] is an annual benefit show hosted by the Tiyumba West African Drum & Dance Company. Proceeds from the show directly benefit youth and their community in Tamale, northern Ghana. In 2024 we had the opportunity to host guest artists of the Dagbamba Tribe of Northern Ghana. This was the first ever cultural sharing of this sort to take place in Minnesota.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
